About

Who are we?

Based and shot in the South West of England, Skive was filmed in Spring 2023 with a core crew of eight and a main cast of two — on a low budget, across Bristol, Plymouth and Cornwall.

Skive went on to win awards within its university, and then many more across UK film festivals, as well as national recognition from the Royal Television Society, picking up Best Student Drama 2024 in the UK.

Three years on, Skive finally gets its long awaited release.

Synopsis

Skive is a coming of age, social realist story about two teenagers both skipping school on the same afternoon. Our protagonist Courtney runs away from school after her headteacher fails to help her with the sexual harassment she's facing from another student. She is angry at the world for how she is constantly objectified and let down by men. Her world view is shaped by this, but a small part of her is still clinging on to the hope that not all men and boys only see her as an object.

Cast

Leah Swain-Heath

Leah Swain-Heath

Lead Actress (Courtney)

I’m a proud queer, working class Birmingham born and raised actor. I love social realism and playing gritty characters. Alongside being an actor I am a presenter and a footballer!

Skive opened my eyes to the beauty of social realism — a genre I envision myself diving into even more! I intend to work with creatives that inspire me with their art such as Shane Meadows, Stephen Graham, Jodie Comer and Jack Thorne to name a few. In 2025, I got signed to my dream agency Independent Talent Group and I’m very excited to see where that takes me in the future.

Angelo Forgacs

Angelo Forgacs

Joint Lead Actor

Bristol based actor, recently graduated from The Bristol School Of Acting and is now represented by Ignite Elite Artists. Really passionate about taking on the acting industry and telling stories that hit close to home.

Recently shot a short comedy in Bristol, called “What’s the worst that can happen?”, and is in the process of writing his own short.

Crew

Corinna Elleschild

Corinna Elleschild

Director, Writer

Cornish director and film writer. Since Skive she has gone on to complete a writing course as well as complete writing her first feature.

Creator of the story Skive, Corinna is extremely proud to be representing her working class Cornish roots, telling stories and characters closer to her heart.

Ellis Cate

Ellis Cate

Writer, Assistant Director, Production Manager

Hailing from Devon, Ellis focuses his writing on small stories in a bigger picture — characters you’re yet to see on screen who deserve some of the spotlight. Always looking to champion those he feels deserve a chance.

Having co-wrote two short films and assistant directed three, Ellis stepped into his role of AD and Production Manager as well as writer, focusing his role on keeping the crew organised, up to date, as well as happy.

Really enjoying his roles and the types of films he has created alongside Corinna, Ellis now looks forward to the next steps of his career.

Charlie Guy-Wilson

Charlie Guy-Wilson

Director of Photography, Camera Operator

Charlie brought an unmatched energy to Skive. Since seeing the pitch for the film, he knew this was a film and story he wanted to be a part of, as well as to put his own spin and talents into it.

Charlie did just that, offering his thoughts and energy from the very start, and absolutely smashing his role as DOP, with a deep understanding for the film and its story.

Now based in London, Charlie Guy-Wilson has gone on to work very much within the industry, working with huge brands and names. He’s found himself in a brilliant position and deservedly so.

Louis Barron Forde

Louis Barron Forde

Producer

I studied filmmaking at the University of the West of England where I developed my love of writing and world building. There has always been a love of tight, emotionally charged character driven stories, no matter the genre. When I heard about Skive, a social realism drama set in the country I call home, it had me hooked.

I’m currently travelling around New Zealand — and always thinking about the next creative project!

Andy Langley

Andy Langley

Assistant Camera

Having worked closely with cameras and been fascinated by the concept of colour at a young age, it was inevitable to be working close to the DOP and the colour in post-production. Skive stood out the most, considering I have a personal appeal to unfiltered coming-of-age British media stories such as Skins and Sex Education. I fell for the story Corinna and Ellis had written.

Colour grading for this project was quite challenging, considering the inevitable change in natural light. I had a lot of fun doing so as I am always up for a challenge.

Three-year update on my life: I am now a full-time chef at the Colonnade in the Bristol Beacon working on occasional freelancing photography and videography projects. I am working with the little time off I get to find a future for myself in the film world. I seek wildlife camera operator documentary experience and music video production experience, as I have a strong appeal to self-expression and creativity.

Tommy Hepp

Tommy Hepp

Sound Design, Recordist

Sound design, recording and editing was all completed by Tommy Hepp within the production of Skive. Hailing from Swansea, Tommy’s understanding for the film Skive and the social realism genre perfectly captured what we were aiming for, and his use of sound and music perfectly complemented and elevated the film.

The track ‘Recovery’ by Rival Consoles personifies this. Used within the final scene of the film, Tommy was tasked with finding a modern-day dance track which would fit the mood and tone of the scene. The track was hidden from everyone apart from the director Corinna, as a way to make sure that when the song was played, it was completely fresh and unknown to all crew and cast. This worked fantastically and brought an emotional end to the film both on and off screen, as this was both the final scene we shot and the final scene of the film. The perfect song for the scene — no other song would have worked as well as that one did.

All other elements of sound within Skive were completed impressively by Tommy, who went on to study sound at Bath as an MA. He has recently returned to Bristol after time away travelling, and is keen to find his next chapter within the sound realm.

Electra Zaloni

Editor, Script Supervisor

Electra was the backbone of the team, holding down every single detail for the story’s consistency and constantly giving her intelligence to the film and story.

Electra was vital to the entire production, and then went on to be lead editor for post-production, bringing each scene to life with an editing style which got the pacing and story spot on — doing a brilliant job.

Eve Morris

Eve Morris

Production Design

Eve Morris led production design for Skive, working alongside assistant Ismael. The pair delivered brilliant and on-point costumes, props and design for each scene, with a great understanding of each scene’s tone.

Nick Curtis-Purnell

Nick Curtis-Purnell

Runner & Production Assistant

Nick began his creative journey after a long career in hospitality, bringing an eight-year chapter in professional kitchens to an end. The discipline, pace, and teamwork of cheffing shaped his work ethic and sharpened his eye for detail. Discovering filmmaking as a more powerful outlet for storytelling, he shifted careers and quickly found his voice behind the camera. Drawing from his mixed-heritage background and lived experience, Nick developed a deep interest in character-driven narratives rooted in identity, realism, and emotional truth.

During his first year studying Filmmaking at UWE, he immersed himself in a wide range of roles, leaning heavily into producing to oversee entire projects and gain valuable insight into each stage of the process. This hands-on approach helped him build both technical confidence and strong collaborative instincts. By the end of the year, Nick had established himself as a driven, adaptable student filmmaker with a clear creative direction and a hunger to keep growing — a journey that led to his introduction to the third-year team behind Skive, their graduation film.

Since Skive, Nick has continued to expand both his technical and creative practice, developing strong skills in sound, adapting his personable hospitality background into confident assistant directing and directing, and strengthening his voice as a scriptwriter. After graduating from his Filmmaking degree at UWE in summer 2025, he began pursuing entry-level roles across sound, AD, and locations. Most recently, he found his first major break as a Location Trainee on Rivals (Series 2), where he was promoted and kept on as a daily thanks to his reliability, attitude, and fast learning.

Nick Curtis-Purnell is a UK-based filmmaker and production assistant, sound assistant and location marshall, whose experience spans sound, AD, locations, and creative development. His credits include Rivals (Season 2), 90 Day: The Last Resort (Season 3), Heir of Time, and First Dates (Series 10). He has written, directed, and crewed award-winning shorts including Birdcage and Check On, and is a two-time RTS South West Craft Award winner for Production Sound and Post-Production Sound. He trained with the All Set West program and holds industry certifications from the Mark Milsome Foundation, ScreenSkills, and BAFTA’s albert Sustainable Filmmaking initiative.

Ismael Perez De Gracia

Ismael Perez De Gracia

Runner & Production Design Assistant

Ismael worked on Skive as a production runner, supporting the team through the shoot and getting the chance to be part of bringing the film to life. He was mainly there for the vibes.

Since then, he has gone on to work in factual entertainment and has built experience in television production and research. He has worked across The Great British Bake Off and its spin-offs, and can now bake a mean cake. He is currently casting the next series of Bake Off.

Huzair Mustafa

Grip

Huzair played a key role as grip and assistant on the first two days on set, before helping his other crew complete their film.
